Efficient Poisson’s Ratio Evaluation of Weft-Knitted Auxetic Metamaterials

نویسندگان

چکیده

Auxetic metamaterials expand transversely when stretched longitudinally or contract compressed, resulting in a negative Poisson’s ratio (NPR). fabrics are 3D textile possessing unique geometry that can generate an auxetic response with respect to tension. In weft-knitted fabrics, the NPR property is achieved due inherent curling effect of face and back stitches knit loops; they organized knitting pattern. The traditional method used evaluate measure lateral fabric deformation during axial tensile testing on mechanical machine, which time-consuming inaccurate measuring uneven deformations. this study, efficient was developed also estimate directionality. elasticity extension properties be analyzed immediately following removal from bed. Five all same stitch densities (including four patterns one single jersey pattern), were designed produced validate proposed method. use our estimation such showed higher values compared conclusion, directionality, elasticity, extensionality examined. It anticipated could assist innovative development deployment knitted metamaterials.

Hierarchical honeycomb auxetic metamaterials

Most conventional materials expand in transverse directions when they are compressed uniaxially resulting in the familiar positive Poisson's ratio. Here we develop a new class of two dimensional (2D) metamaterials with negative Poisson's ratio that contract in transverse directions under uniaxial compressive loads leading to auxeticity. This is achieved through mechanical instabilities (i.e., b...

Hierarchical Auxetic Mechanical Metamaterials

Auxetic mechanical metamaterials are engineered systems that exhibit the unusual macroscopic property of a negative Poisson's ratio due to sub-unit structure rather than chemical composition. Although their unique behaviour makes them superior to conventional materials in many practical applications, they are limited in availability. Here, we propose a new class of hierarchical auxetics based o...

Origami-inspired deployable auxetic metamaterials

Developing complex spatial objects from a fl at sheet of material using origami folding techniques has long attractedattention in science and engineering. Recent research has shown that in origami-based deployable folded sheetmaterials, such as Miura-ori, metamaterial properties of the patterns are basically because of their folding geom-etry [1, 2]. In this study, we employ tai...

Auxetic metamaterials from disordered networks.

Recent theoretical work suggests that systematic pruning of disordered networks consisting of nodes connected by springs can lead to materials that exhibit a host of unusual mechanical properties. In particular, global properties such as Poisson's ratio or local responses related to deformation can be precisely altered. Tunable mechanical responses would be useful in areas ranging from impact m...

Loop Length of Plain Single Weft Knitted Structure with Elastane

For decades, scientists have been trying to define relationships among yarn parameters, knitted fabric parameters, and knitting parameters with loop models. Recently, the geometrical loop models have returned to focus as they assist finding the effective parameters which cause dimensional changes during relaxation. Furthermore, they help designing knitted structures for technical applications a...
